About Zoë

I grew up in Oxford and Paris, where I spent a lot of time drawing, making pancakes and riding around on my bike (not all at once). I loved the books of Maurice Sendak, Arnold Lobel and Judith Kerr – books that told stories with pictures as well as words. I still do, which is why eventually I became a children’s author.

Along the way, I have worked as an ice cream seller, a journalist and as a publicity person for an animal charity.

I like to make books about real life and books that come from my imagination. One of my favourite things is to discover how an illustrator will interpret my words in beautiful and unexpected ways.

My days are normally spent writing in a café, the library or at home in Brighton, where I live with my little girl and our grey-and-white cat, Dora.
